Can I Put Vicks Vapo Rub in my Scentsy Warmer

I’m not going to get all bajiggity if you want to put products that are not made by Scentsy, for use with Scentsy Products, in our Warmers. We are ONLY Scentsy Experts. We are not experts on other Candles, Warmers, Burners, Sprays, Oils, etc. that are not Scentsy Made.

This being said, the following question comes up at least every couple of months from a customer and even Scentsy Consultants in our Team who have been asked by their customers…

Can you put Vicks in a Scentsy Warmer?

People do, but you shouldn’t.  Why?  Well, I actually looked at the label on the back of one of our Vicks Vapo Rub Jars and it states: DO NOT HEAT… See the arrow below?

Vicks Warning Label and Scentsy
Vicks Warning Label

I mean, let’s be real.  If Vicks is stating that you shouldn’t HEAT IT then don’t you think that putting it in a Scentsy Warmer (which Warms our Wax) is probably a bad idea?  Sure, it’s got Eucalyptus and Menthol and I can see where you might think that if you could get your entire room to smell like Vicks it would help with congestion.  BUT, there are warning labels on products for reasons.  Again, I’m no expert on Vicks products but I’m guessing that heating it may release toxic chemicals into the air because you’ve now altered the products state by liquefying it into a hot oil.

You know, Vicks actually does make products for humidifiers for that purpose.  Vicks Vapo Rub is supposed to be RUBBED, not used in a Warmer.

Just like with Scentsy Products, our wax is not meant to be heated with a flame.  Our Room Sprays are not meant to be used on Skin but our Lotions are.  So, if you have 2 companies stating their product’s intended uses but, you choose to just ignore both and put your Vicks in your Scentsy, then no one is going to stop you.

Just know that if you have adverse reactions from the chemicals in the Vicks, get oil splatters or burns from using our Warmers or if you ruin your Scentsy Dish Top from using Vicks… then that is neither Scentsy or Vick’s responsibility.  As long as you, as a Consumer, know this then you do what you want.
