Working our Scentsy Business as a Married Couple

His and Hers Scentsy

My hubby, Shawn, and I work our Scentsy business together. When you run a business as a couple you need to figure out what each of you like to do and what you are good at. Make a list of duties or tasks involved with your Scentsy business and then decide who will do what parts.

For example: We are both computer geeks but Shawn has more knowledge of building websites and I’m a good writer. We decided that I would run and write for our Blog and Facebook page and he’d create content for, update and manage our website. Shawn is great with people but he has a job he works 4 days a week, that he loves, and therefore cannot make himself available for our downline or for customers to reach him but, I work from home and can answer the phone or emails anytime.

Not only is it important to figure out what you’re good at but also what you like to do. Scentsy is a Fun business! When you are building a business and recruiting it’s not all fun and games though. There are accounting (ugg…taxes and expense reports, etc), training downline, planning, parties, personal development tasks…and more, that you need to consider. Delegate tasks by ‘like’ first and then, as you go down your list of duties, pick the best person for each. When you like what you do you are more likely to get better results and have some Fun!

Drawbacks and Rewards of working together

Honestly, we love working together. On the days that Shawn works at his job we miss each other – that’s our drawback. It’s not like we’re both talking to one another all day long but just being in the same room focusing on our business working on separate tasks…feels good. We also do take one day a week to hang out and play hooky. Going to see a movie, running errands together – whatever.

Like most couples, we know each other very well and know how to push one another’s buttons. We make a conscious effort to approach our questions and requests with thoughtfulness. I could say something like, ‘have you finished updating that page yet?” but instead I ask, “hey honey, will you let me know when you’ve finished updating that page?” This gets a way better response and doesn’t seem as bossy… Same goes for him!

Join our Scentsy Team

Truly, we know what it’s like to work together. The various nuances and skills needed to maintain a great partnership are something we have already helped others in our Team with – we can help you too! We know a lot of Scentsy Consultants in the business who work their business themselves and their Spouse or Partner isn’t involved. I will tell you that the overwhelming response is that working a business together is much easier and more rewarding! Working a busy business is much harder when you have to do everything yourself.

Join our Scentsy Team and we’ll be there for you every step of the way! For more information on Joining Scentsy, contact us today!

My husband and I worked together for YEARS in our business. When the recession hit hard, we both got jobs in different sectors working for other people. Neither of us LOVE it and we still talk about working together again at some point.
I am curious though as to how it works to be a team with scentsy.
Did you both sign up separately, or just one of you and you BOTH just work together?
I think its wonderful that you have this in your lives and awesome that you can mix business and pleasure and still have fun. SOO important.
Thank you for sharing this with us 🙂
